Indirect Collection Notice (IPP 3A Privacy Amendment Act 2025)

Where we receive your personal information from a source other than you directly such as a referral partner, lead generation platform, or an adviser in our network  we are required under Information Privacy Principle 3A (IPP 3A) of the Privacy Amendment Act 2025 to notify you of the following:

  • The purpose for which your information was collected (to connect you with a licensed adviser)
  • The intended recipients of your information: licensed advisers within our referral network
  • That collection is not required by law, but is necessary to provide the referral service you have requested
  • Your right to access and request correction of your personal information at any time
  • The identity of the agency collecting and holding your information: Essential Mortgages & Insurance, Suite 5, 129 Great South Road, Papatoetoe, Auckland 2025

If you were referred to EMI by a third party and did not directly submit your details to us, this notice serves as our notification to you under IPP 3A.

How It Works:

Essential Mortgages & Insurance is a financial services referral platform. We connect New Zealanders with licensed mortgage brokers and insurance advisers in our network. When you submit an enquiry, your details are passed to a licensed adviser in our network relevant to your needs. In doing so, we notify you that your information is being shared with a third party as required under IPP 3A of the Privacy Amendment Act 2025. That adviser contacts you directly and is individually responsible for the advice they provide under their own FAP licence.

What We Don’t Do:

  • Provide financial advice
  • Recommend specific products or lenders
  • Act as a mortgage or insurance broker
  • Hold a Financial Advice Provider (FAP) licence

Remuneration:

We may receive a referral fee from advisers in our network paid by the adviser, not you. Your adviser is required to disclose their own commission structure and conflicts of interest before providing advice.
